It is with heavy hearts that we announce that William M. Gosse passed away at the Caribou Memorial Veteran’s Pavilion, St. John's on Friday, March 3rd, 2023 at 86 years of age.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, Lee and Irene (nee Longmore) Gosse, parents-in-law, John and Elizabeth (nee Pike) Wade sister-in-law Eileen Denine, brothers-in-law; Jim Power, Jim Wade and Wayne Baker
Leaving to mourn are his devoted and loving wife of 63 years, Carmel (nee Wade) Gosse, two daughters; Michele (Bob) Tiller and Lisa (Gerald) Cole, five grandsons: Daniel (Alyssa) O’Neill, Cameron O’Neill, Samuel Cole, Devon Cole and Conor Cole; sisters-in-law: Elsie Power, Alice Wade, Doris Baker and Ann Wade, brothers- in-law; Ed (Delores) Wade and Mike (Theresa) Wade, special friends Beth & Wince Noftall, Ward O’Neill, Kim Noseworthy & Eric Best, Madison & Adam Tiller, as well as a circle of other relatives and friends.
Bill was born in Maywood, Illinois and entered the US Navy at the age of 18 where he served for 22 years. His pride for serving his country lasted until his final days. Newfoundland became his family’s home in 1975 where, after many years at the Janeway Hospital, he retired. His love for his grandsons and passion for animals brought him contentment in his later years.
At Bill’s request, cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood on Monday, March 6th, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A private funeral service will be held at at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the SPCA.
