Thomas "Tom" Terry Obituary

Thomas Clifford Terry of Chapel’s Cove, aged 81 passed away peacefully with his family on March 26, 2026, at the Health Sciences Center.

He was predeceased by his parents; John (Jack) and Rosella (nee Mackey) Terry, brothers; Sam Terry and Sgt. Edward Terry, sisters; Patricia LeBlanc and Theresa Martin, his grandmother Theresa, grandfather Thomas, uncle Kenneth and aunt Nellie Terry.

Leaving to mourn are his daughters; Lee Ann (Billy), Tracey Lynn (Donnie), brother John (Wendy), sister Barbara, brothers-in-law; Edmund LeBlanc and Leo (Geraldine) Norman; sisters-in-law; Kaye Terry and Patricia Ezekiel, nieces, nephews and friends. His cherished friends: Albert Dalton and Raymond & Mary Quinlan.

Dad had a vibrant work ethic like no other, he was very driven at a young age. Having been born into a merchant lifestyle in Chapel’s Cove, he carried that forward to North Arm, where he ran Terry’s Convenience, inclusive of being the Postmaster for many years. Dad then opened an Irving Gas Station, then moved on to be a Tractor Trailer Driver which he dearly loved. He had great pride in the 1.5 million miles he drove. In his retirement years, he drove the school bus, which he truly enjoyed seeing his students daily.

We want to thank Woodford’s Comfort Manor endlessly for the care they offered Dad. Ensuring that his appetite was appeased, was a force to be reckoned with and they successfully achieved that. We would like to thank our mother, Marjorie for always being there behind the scenes to support dad in anyway she could. We would like to thank the staff of 4 South B at the Health Sciences Centre, Dr. House and Dr. Orr for their professionalism and compassion they offered to Dad in his final days. We would like to send out a special thank you to John, Wendy and Barb for travelling home to be with us during this difficult time. Anyone that was part of Dads journey, we thank you.

Resting at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 29th from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Holyrood on Monday, March 30, 2026 at 10:30 am with cremation to follow.
