Russell Bragg Sheppard

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Russell Sheppard. Russell passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Thursday, December 5th, with his loving family by his side, at the age of 84. 

Russell was born in the small coastal community of Rencontre East on June 22, 1940.  He went to work at Ultramar Refinery in Holyrood where he put down his roots with Theresa and they started their family. 

With his passing, he is now reunited with his love, his wife of 61 years, Theresa. 

Left with broken hearts but fond memories are his children: Darrin (Karen), Adelaide (Marvin), Steven, Chris (Jeanine) and Leslie (Julie).  His pride and joy, granddaughters: Hailey, Hannah, Kendra and Ashlyn.  

Russell loved life, he loved a good joke, a game of cards and being surrounded by family and friends. 

Remember Russell for his larger than life personality and the joy he brought to others and not the sadness of his passing.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Berdina for her care and compassion over the last few years to both mom and dad. 

At Russell’s request, cremation has taken place, Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, December 10th, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm. Immediately following the visitation, Father Michael Barker will officiate an intimate service at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood.  Inurnment will follow for both Theresa and Russell at Holy Cross Cemetery, Holyrood.
