It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Robert Thomas Bonnington of Admirals Beach, St. Mary’s Bay. Robert passed away at home surrounded by his loving wife and family on August 27, 2025.
Robert is predeceased by his parents; Allan and Genevieve Linehan, parents-in law; John and Olive Barron, brothers: Allan (Jr.) Linehan, Joseph Linehan and Carl Preshyon, brothers-in-law Andrew and Peter Barron.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife of 53 years, Margaret (Maggie) Bonnington, his cherished children whom he dearly loved: Nadine, Amy (Bill), Roberta (James), Stephanie (Richard), Sheldon (Jennifer), Dennis (Sally and Jordan (Joanne). His many grandchildren whom he adored and loved to spend time with.
His siblings: Josie (Art), Geraldine (Terry), Greg (Bernice), Winnifred Hempill along with a large circle of nieces, nephews and foster family. His brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, whom he cared deeply about.
Robert had a large circle of friends whom he spent countless hours enjoying life with, too many to name.
Robert enjoyed the simple things in life. He was happiest hunting and fishing with his three sons. Robert was happiest outdoors. He spent countless hours sitting by the pond trouting with Maggie by his side.
Robert loved playing tricks, tormenting and having a chuckle with his best friends, Mike Cahill and Kenneth Dalton. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his smile and love for family.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mike and Nina Cahill for everything they have done for Robert and Maggie over the past few years.
A special thank you to his homecare workers, Trina Comerford and Shawna Hickey, who with their help, Robert would not have gotten his wish to stay home.
Special thanks to Best of Care (Gloria White), St. Mary’s Pharmacy (Todd Squires), the doctors and nurses of St. Clare’s and the paramedics of St. Mary’s Bay, who all went above and beyond to help care for Robert. Your care and help will not go unnoticed or unappreciated.
