Richard (Dick) J. Dunphy

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing on February 12, 2024 of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Richard (Dick) Joseph Dunphy, surrounded by his loved ones.  Predeceased by his parents Weldon and Clare Dunphy, brother (Donald) Louise, three baby siblings, parents-in-law Michael and Rita Lewis and brother-in-law Lionel.

Left with precious memories are his wife Debbie of 52 years, sons: Neal (Karen), Chris (Priscilla), Ralphie and daughter Anne.  He will also be sadly missed by his brothers, Bart (Delia), Kevin and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Jerome (Linda), Tom, Des (Doris), Mike (Carolann), Kenneth, Brian (Irene), Rosemary, Barbara Corcoran (Don).  Also leaving to mourn are his grandchildren, Keira and Kaleb, who adored their poppy and step grandchildren William and Parker.  Also, dearly missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family.  Many close friends are mourning the loss of their good friend who was known as ‘man of few words’.  Dick never failed to take the opportunity to play pranks on them, especially his good buddy Webb, and this he immensely enjoyed.

A special thank you the staff on 4 North B for their kind and special care of Dick, during his final days. Dick had been an employee of Provincial Works Services and Transportation for over 35 years and later, because of his passion for operating heavy equipment, he went to work with NEWCO Metal and Auto Recycling.

Cremation has taken place. Resting at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood. Visitation will take place on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 11:00 am from Good Shepherd Parish Church at St. Joseph’s. In lieu of flowers the family are requesting that donations in Richard’s memory be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery. Donations may be sent via email to dgbutland@yahoo.ca
