It is with profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Nicholas “Nix” McDonald at his home residence in Mitchell’s Brook on April 13, 2025.
He was predeceased by his parents; Maurice and Sadie (nee Parrott) McDonald, brothers: Michael, Maurice, Jerome, Al, Paddy and sister, Margaret.
Leaving to mourn with cherished memories are his beloved wife and best friend of 56 years Annie “Suse” (nee Walsh) McDonald, daughter Darlene (Calvin), son Barry (Nicole), four very loved granddaughters: Kelsey (Jeremy), Sydney, Cassie and Olivia, two precious great grandchildren who always put a smile on his face; Charlotte and Nicholas King, as well as his brothers: Harold, Brian (Linda) and Ken (Clara), sisters: Annie, Laura and Marcella (Gord), nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a large circle of family and friends who helped him in so many ways during the last of his journey.
A very special thank you to the Dialysis Unit of Mount Pearl Square, the Health Sciences Centre, and St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital. Your professionalism, care and compassion will never be forgotten. To the staff of the Morgan building (Chancellor Park), Dr. Noreen Fardy (Palliative Care) and Jaclyn O’Reilly (Community Health) and our amazing home support team of family and friends, you enabled us to give him his last wish to be home, a reality – we send you our sincerest thanks.
Cremation entrusted to Dunphy’s Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Mount Carmel Town Hall with Inurnment to follow at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Kidney Care Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, or a charity of one’s choice.
