It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Maxine Hunt (née Baker) on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at 71 years of age.
Predeceased by her husband Gerry Hunt in 2024, parents; Lillian (née Pike) and Alex Baker, siblings: Margaret, Wanda, Wayne and Dale.
She leaves to mourn, her children; David Menchinton and Tammy Menchinton-Hart (Jon), Gerry’s children; Andrew, Jennifer and family.
Maxine comes from a large family that she loved unconditionally. She is lovingly remembered by her sisters: Joyce (Don, deceased) Doreen (Bob, deceased), June (Frank), Glenda (Gary) and Jackie, brothers: Clyde (Paula), Leonard (Karen), Billy (Stephanie) and Gerry (Cherri-Lynn), sisters-in-law; Gail Baker and Doris Baker, as well as her nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Maxine moved away from Newfoundland in 1987, with her husband Gerry and their children to Winnipeg and then onto British Columbia. In 2020, Maxine and Gerry moved back to Newfoundland, to be closer to family, where she spent time with her brothers and sisters. They helped Maxine over the last few weeks through care, love and laughter.
At Maxine’s request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. If friends so desire, donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
