On Sunday, April 19, 2026, Mary Margaret (née Doran) Fewer of Lakeview passed away at Chancellor Park Nursing Home at the age of 87 years.
Mary was predeceased by her parents; William and Veronica (née Myers) Doran of Holyrood, her in-laws; John and Mary Fewer of Lakeview, sister, Kay; brothers: Willy, Pad, Fred and Martin, in-laws: Johnny, Joe, Fred, Kevin and Mona.
Left with fond and loving memories are her husband of 67 years, Lou; her daughter, Debbie (Derek), sons: Lou (Korrie), Gary and Craig (Suvi), grandchildren: Brittney (Shane), Mitchell (Brooke), Reece (Kayley), Jade, Chantel (Kurt), Ashley (Justin), Dylan, Cody, Megan and Sean, her great-grandchildren: Sierrah, Emily, Maven, Theo, Oaklen, Liam, Elliette, Presley and Charlotte, sisters: Pat, Madonna (Barry), Chris (Anthony) and Sylvia, brothers: Jack (Rose), Joe (Patsy) and Leo (Mary), in-laws: Belle, Mick, Angus, Helen and Margaret, as well as a large circle of extended family and friends.
A woman of unwavering faith and dedicated service, Mary was a deeply involved parishioner within the communities of Harbour Main and Holyrood. Her devotion to the Church was matched only by her commitment to her neighbors. Mary’s vibrant social life was a testament to her spirit; she was a cornerstone of the 50+ Club, an enthusiastic participant in local fitness programs with Active for Life, and a lover of Bingo and card games. Mary would always love to stop for a chat, no matter who you were, where she was going or how much time she had to spare.
Mary carried this same sense of community into her professional life. Early in her career she worked in the office of the Waterford Hospital and left that position to raise her young family. Upon returning to work she stayed within the local community, most notably was her time at the Irving Restaurant. During her years at the Irving Restaurant (Holyrood TCH), she found great joy in her work and fostered a "work-family" that remained dear to her throughout her life. She will be remembered for her pride in her work, her steadfast faith, and her generous heart.
Resting at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 23rd from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Harbour Main on Friday, April 24, 2026 at 10:30 am with interment to follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Chapel’s Cove.
Flowers gratefully accepted or if friends so desire, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to The Alzheimer's Society or a charity of your choosing.
