Marcella (nee Harding) Hynes

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved mother, Marcella Hynes, aged 95 years, has passed peacefully away at home on August 4th, 2024, surrounded by her family. 

Predeceased by the love of her life, her husband, James Hynes; parents, Patrick & Anastasia Harding; brothers and sisters, Jack, Gerry, Ben, Elizabeth, Bride, Eileen and Barbara; grandson, Wayne Daniel Hynes; and daughter-in-law, Susan Hynes. 

Leaving to mourn and cherish her memory are her children: Michael (Loretta), Wayne (Marjorie), Paul (Leigh Ann), Jimmy, Janet (Richard) Budden and Evelyn. Grandchildren: Steven, Michael Robert, Christian, Sarah, Leslee, Matthew, Krista, Candace, and Jonelle; 20 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Ron Hynes; sister-in-law, Marie White; special friend, Doreen Phillips; and a large circle of extended family and friends.  

Mom will always be remembered for the many gatherings at her home sharing a game of cards, many home-cooked meals, and good times. As a talented knitter and baker, she shared many of her creations throughout the community. Marcella was an active member of her church community and will be fondly remembered by the members of the Golden Age Club. Mom enjoyed a good night of bingo, spending time in her garden and dancing to her favourite tunes. Marcella was a true matriarch of our family, loved her children fiercely and enjoy spending time with her precious grandchildren. 

We would like to thank the Eastern Health Palliative Care Team and Continuing Care Nurses for their support and compassion as we said farewell to mom. Special thank you to nurses, Tina Frampton and Andrew Hart along with close friends, Karen Dalhe and Mary Jane Bennett for their support. 

Resting at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood, visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 7th, 2024 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 8th, 2024 at 10:30 am from Holy Cross Catholic Church, Holyrood with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Holyrood.
