It is with heavy hearts we share that Leo passed away peacefully at home in Avondale on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at the age of 78.
He was predeceased by his parents; James and Stella (nee Costello), sisters: Dot, Marguerite, Marie, Kathleen, Mary and Loretta, brothers: Tom, Gerald, James and John.
Leo was a cherished spouse to Martina Williams, a loving father to: Jason Power (Sandy), Melissa Power (Jason), Tracy Williams (Shawn), Robin Williams (Trish) and Sara-Lee Byers (Andrew), a proud poppy to: Zachary, Cassie, Lexie, Riley, Cody, Dakota (Jody), Jacob, Jonathan, Jacinta, Belle, Ethan, Layla, Maddie and great grandson Hayden, sister Theresa and brother Richard (Agnes), as well as a large number of nieces nephews and other relatives and friends
He was born in St. Joseph’s, SMB. Leo spent most of his life in Avondale. He loved life on the hill in his special place and looking out over the harbor, with his dog by his side. Leo was known for his devotion to his animals, life stories, world curiosity, guitar playing and fish filleting skills. He loved a good yarn, a sarcastic comment, a glass of port and anything that came with a wink. He will be remembered by his grandchildren for bad jokes, scratch tickets, pocket money, and will be forever missed by those who loved him.
Special thanks to the emergency responders, Ron Fitzpatrick of Dunphy’s funeral Home and Dr. Fleming for their compassionate care.
In honor of his final wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or formal funeral service. Family will gather to celebrate his memory privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you share a special memory or perform a random act of kindness in Leo’s honor.
