Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 following a short battle with cancer, Joseph Healey Sr., Aged 88 of Holyrood.
He was predeceased by his loving wife and soulmate Elizabeth (Lizzie) nee Murphy, daughter Audrey, who he adored dearly, parents; Thomas and Isabelle (nee Dwyer) Healey, brothers; John and Thomas and mother and father-in-law; Herbert and Alice Murphy.
Left with fond and loving memories are his children: Eugene, Lorraine (Carl), Wayne (Tracey), Michelle (John), Joey, Betty (Doug), Tom (Bonnie) and Beverly (Derek), brothers; Bill (Rose) and Patrick (Joan), sisters; Mary and Stash (Jim-deceased) and sisters-in-law; Eileen and Aggie. He also leaves a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and who put a smile on his face every time that he saw them.
Joe’s existence was dedicated to his family, and he would do anything for those around him. He spoke his mind but was very respectful to all of those who he came in contact with and would literally give you the shirt off his back. Just like his mother before him, Joe will be remembered as a storyteller who had a wealth of knowledge. He could recall facts from many years ago in great detail as if it had happened just yesterday.
He had a strong presence in his community, and his morning travels gave him great joy. For him, it wasn’t as much about the drive as it was about enjoying the company along the route, but above all he was our loving and cherished dad.
Resting at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 17th from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Holyrood on Monday, August 18, 2025 at 10:30 am with cremation to follow.
Inurnment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Holyrood on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at 11:30 am.
