John Allen Guelich

Passed peacefully away on May 3rd, 2026 at Health Sciences Centre surrounded by his family and friends, John Allen Guelich.

John was predeceased by his wife Jenny, father Ralph Guelich, his mother Doris Shucker, his sisters Carol and Betty Lou, his brother Harry and brother-in-law, Martin.

John leaves to mourn his children: Johnathan, Mary (Fritz) and Jimmy (Elena), his best friend and companion, Sadie King of eighteen years, grandchildren: Jasmine, Jimmy and Diana and great grandson, Leo.

He is also lovingly remembered by his sister, Gail, his brothers: Dennis, Roger, Ronnie and Jerry as well as his in-laws: Kathleen (Clarence), Jerome (Valerie), Kenny (Paula), Joe (Mary), Bernard and many nieces and nephews, as well as a circle of other relatives and friends.

John was born in Pennsylvania and joined the Army after leaving school.  After living in Florida for many years and finding a Newfoundland girl, he moved to Holyrood 45 years ago and became a true fixture in the community.

John was a member of the American Legion, devoted member of The Star of the Sea Association and the Marina Golden Age Club.

Special thank you to his doctor, Paul Walsh, the staff at Health Sciences Centre both in the emergency and cardiology departments.

Resting at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 5th from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Holyrood on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at 10:30 am with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Holyrood.
