Passed peacefully away at her home on Thursday, September 8th, 2022, in the loving arms of her husband. Joanne Moore (nee Thomey) of Avondale at 63 years of age. She was predeceased by her parents James and Catherine Thomey. Leaving to mourn with cherished memories are her husband of 41 years, Joe; son, Michael (Rhonda); daughter, Michelle (Steve) Galway; grandchildren Jude and Stella Galway; and Lauren Moore. Also grieving her loss, her sister and best friend, Camilla (Brian) Payne and their children; Scott, Mark (Katie) and Anne; as well as a large circle of extended family, friends and former co-workers at Memorial University.
Joanne was an avid gardener and an outdoor enthusiast. When she was puttering in her garden or hiking along the Goat Shore she was in her happy place. The only thing that brought greater joy was spending time with her precious children and grandchildren, and they with her. Joanne will always be remembered for her sense of humour, sharp wit, keen memory, and her story-telling charm that kept “all hands” entertained around the kitchen table. She was one of a kind. Never one to back down from an argument no matter the topic - she would surely stand her ground and heaven help the one who attempted to challenge her.
Resting at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood. Visitation will take place on Sunday, September 11th from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Monday, September 12th from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Tuesday, September 13th, 2022 at Assumption Catholic Church, Avondale with cremation to follow.
