It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Russell Holmes at the Glenbrook Lodge, St. John’s on Sunday, January 16, 2022 after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s.
He was predeceased by his parents; Ruth and Melville Holmes, mother and father-in-law Nellie and Frank Beeso and his beloved dog Neuf.
George is survived by his loving wife Helen (Beeso), three brothers: Jim, Gary and Ron, two sisters: Vera (Paul) Clark and Viola (Ron deceased) Desbien, brother-in-law Kevin (Stella) Beeso, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, many friends whom he cherished, as well as a circle of other relatives and friends.
Resting at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood. Visitation was held on Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
A celebration of George's Life will be held at Dunphy's Memorial Chapel on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 1:00 pm (For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed with the link available below) with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Holyrood. The family requests that all guests who attend, please wear a mask.
No Flowers by request, if friends so desire, donations in George’s memory may be made to the Parkinson’s Society of Newfoundland, Childrens wish Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.
