Clem passed peacefully away, after a brief illness, in the presence of his loving family at the Health Sciences Centre on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. Fr. Clement D. Flaherty of Avondale age 71 years.
He was predeceased by his parents; Joseph and Mary (nee Fewer) Flaherty, brothers: Joseph, Jerome, Edward and Cletus, sister; Marie Bimm, sister-in-law; Mary (Sis) Flaherty, brother-in-law; Art Warren and aunts: Clara Ryan and Ollie Kennedy.
Left with fond and loving memories are his brothers: Hilary (Joan), George (Jean) and Ray (Ann), sisters: Lena Warren and Carol (Gary) Woodford, aunt, Margaret Fewer, sister-in-law, Brenda Flaherty and brother-in-law, Ken Bimm. Clem is also survived by his nieces and nephews who were also very special to him: Valerie, Rhonda, Joe, and Joanne, Corina and Jerry, Jackie and Cletus (CJ), Jackie, Hillary, and Marty, Ken, Carl, and Terri-Lynn, Cletus and Janine, Ray and Shane, Jerrilee, Carlos, Gary, and Rodney.
Clem was a very kind and gentle person whose compassion and humility truly knew no bounds. He was always there to answer to the needs of others. As a Diocesan priest, Clem celebrated many lives and experiences with families within the community. As a great orator, he had the ability to personalize his homilies and relate experiences in a way that could truly captivate his congregation.
At Clem's request cremation has taken place and he was interred with his parents and brothers in the family plot at Assumption Cemetery, Avondale.
