Eunice "Betty" Elizabeth (nee Fiolek) Meaney

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beautiful mother, Betty Meaney of Mount Carmel, St. Mary’s Bay, at the age of 83 on Wednesday, January 15th, 2025.

She was predeceased by husband, Bill, parents; Elizabeth and Anthony Fiolek, brothers: Billy, Tony and Butch Fiolek.  Also predeceased by her in-laws; Isabella and Michael Meaney, sisters-in-law: Eileen Meaney, Marie Lidstone and Bridget Power.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her daughters: Christine (Dave), Debbie (Hubert), Caroline and son, Ken (Brenda).  Sister, Karen Bremnar, special sister-in-law, Susan Foley and her son Shawn.  Brother-in-law, Ignatius Meaney and family.  Grandchildren: Trevor, Brigitte, Tinisha, Michael, Brooke and Scott.  Great grandchildren; Remi and Owen, whom she cherished.  Her step-grandchildren: Melissa, Brad and Jeremy Quigley.  Also leaving to mourn are her special friends, Heather and Gus Marrie, who looked after mom with constant love and support.  Also, extended family members on both sides of the Meaney and Fiolek families.

Our mom moved to Mount Carmel at the age of 18 years.  She got married and had four beautiful children whom she adored.  She was a stay-at-home mom, loved her garden, watching the birds, music, game shows, puzzle books and last, but not least, her tea and candy.

At Betty’s request, cremation has taken place. Resting at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood. Visitation will take place on Monday, January 20th from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Funeral Service to celebrate mom’s life will be held at Dunphy’s Memorial Chapel, Holyrood on Tuesday, January 21st, 2025 at 11:00 am with inurnment to follow at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Mount Carmel, SMB.

Flowers are gratefully accepted or if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
