Elizabeth Woodford Obituary

Our kind, beautiful, generous, mother, grandmother and aunt, Beth, passed peacefully on Saturday, April 1st, 2023.  Surrounded by love and family, she has gone to the great bingo game in the sky to be reunited with her husband and soulmate, Leo Sr.

Predeceased by her husband, Leo Woodford Sr.,her parents John and Mary Ann Costigan, brothers; John, Michael and Joseph; sisters; Ann and Catherine.

Leaving behind with heavy hearts and years of hardy meals, homemade bread and stories of the good old days in Colliers are her children: Mary Ann (Mark Kavanagh), Leo Jr, and Joan (William Dalton), her precious grandchildren: Dana Dalton (Troy Brown), Matthew Dalton (Amanda), Leanne Dalton (Aaron Blake) and Caitlin Woodford, special daughter-in-law Elaine Healey.  Special nephews and nieces: John Costigan (Janet), Darlene Costigan, Geraldine Hickey (Mississauga) and Barry Woodford, as well as many other nieces and nephews in both Canada and the United States.  Sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Woodford (Harbour Main), Mary Woodford (Chapel’s Cove) and Elizabeth Costigan (Philadelphia). Very special friend Carmel Healey who was like another daughter to her.

Her natural warmth, kindness, and generosity rewarded her with a vast circle of friends at bingo and within the community, especially her card buddies: John, Rose, Joan, Lawrence, Laura and Dave. Beth was known as an iconic figure in the Harbour Main community since she moved from Colliers all those 63 years ago.  Although she dearly loved her life in Harbour Main, Colliers was always 'home' to her.

She spent her whole life serving the Lord and her family. From providing care to several family members over her lifetime to hosting many a friend to a hot cup of tea and some freshly baked goods.  If there are such things as angels on earth, mom would be one. She touched many lives and left a profound impact on everyone she met. She now will be with her Heavenly Father and those she loved and missed dearly.

Resting at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood, visitation will be held on Monday and Tuesday, April 3rd and 4th, 2023 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Harbour Main on Wednesday, April 5th at 10:30 a.m. with interment to follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Harbour Main. For those unable to attend, the funeral mass will be livestreamed with the link available below.

“If flowers grow in heaven,

Lord, then pick a bunch for me

Then place them in her arms

And tell her they’re from me.

Tell her that I love and miss her

And when she turns to smile,

Place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for awhile.

Because remembering her is easy.

I do it everyday,

But there’s an ache within my heart

That will never go away.”

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
