It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Mary Power who passed away peacefully at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital surrounded by her loved ones. Predeceased by her husband Bernard, Parents; William and Annie (nee Wade) Hawco and sisters; Catherine McGrath and Clara Grant. Dorothy is lovingly remembered by her children: Geraldine (Michael), Frank (Elizabeth) William (Carolyn), Bernadine (Nicky), Anna Marie (Andrew ), Madonna (Sean), Gregory, Stephanie (Nelson) and Marvin (Tanya), adored nanny to her grandchildren: LeeAnne, Leon, Lindsay, Matthew, Gerard, Alexandra, Stephen, Jeanine, Nicole, Stephen, Dayna, Kaylin, Chelsea, Liam, Malachy, Neason, Layla, Levi, Gracie, Great-grandchildren: Adam, Emma, Olivia, Violet, Michael and Hannah, her brothers; John (Lucy) and James (Theresa), as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. Although heartbroken, we cherish our memories of a loving wife, mother and nanny. A special thanks is extended to Dr. Young and the entire staff at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital and Admiral’s Coast Retirement Centre. Our family will be forever grateful for your extraordinary care and compassion.
Due to the current Covid-19 Restrictions, cremation has taken place. Public Visitation will be in keeping with COVID - 19 Regulations and will take place at Dunphy's Funeral Home, Holyrood on Friday, August 6, 2021 from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The funeral service will be by invitation only due to COVID -19 Restrictions. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, North Harbour, SMB on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 10:00 am. For those unable to attend, the funeral mass will be livestreamed and recorded with the link available below. If so desired, donations in Dorothy’s honour can be made to a charity of your choice.
