It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Doris Hynes, of Holyrood, surrounded by her family, on March 25th, 2025, at the age of 93 years.
Predeceased by her husband Gerard Hynes; parents; Stanley Clarke & Jane Collier; stepfather George Collier; brother Basil Collier; and son Bob Hynes.
Leaving to mourn and cherish her memory are her children: June (Brett), Linda (Tom), Louise (David), Barry ( (Audrey), Gerard (Barb) and Mary (Wayne). Grandchildren: Dawn, Tracey, Todd, Kyla, Paul, Clark, Ryan, Nathan and Victoria. Great-grandchildren: Ezra, Elisabeth and Kaston. Brothers: Bo (Dianne) and Barry, daughter-in-law Linda, and a large circle of extended family and friends.
Doris was not only a wonderful mother, she was also a registered nurse who was frequently called upon to help or advise neighbours in need. She was a valued member of the Holyrood community, an active participant in Parish life, a former president of the Marina Golden Age Club and a recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee Medal, Certificate of Merit from the Canadian Cancer Society (1997) and Holyrood Citizen of the Year award (1992).
Thank you to Pleasant View Towers’ team for their support and kindness as we bid farewell to mom. Special thanks to Hillcrest Estates where mom resided for over 3 years, and a special thank you to Angela Wiseman who went above and beyond to care for mom.
Resting at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 27th, 2025 from 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 28th, 2025 at 10:30 am from Holy Cross Catholic Church, Holyrood with cremation to follow.
Flowers gratefully accepted or if friends so desire, donations in Doris’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
