It is with profound sadness the family of the late Cyril Patrick Costigan, announce his passing at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's, in his 75th year.
Leaving to mourn, his dear mother of 101 years of age, Mary “Kit” Costigan (nee Hawco), partner Helen Marie Tobin, sons; John Ralph Costigan and partner Kehara Matienzo and Boyd Stanley Costigan and Wife Susann Costigan, grandchildren: Kya Julia Kathryn Costigan, Irelyn Janay Costigan, Finn George Costigan, Vivienne Susan Costigan and Rhys Benjamin Costigan, sisters: Theresa Walsh and Husband Larry Walsh, Marion Johnson, Viola Frisky and Husband Alan Frisky & Rose Ardern and Husband Cary Ardern, brothers: Thomas Costigan and Wife Karen Costigan and James Costigan.
Also, a large family of nieces, nephews and extended family.
Cyril was predeceased by his loving wife, Susan Margaret Costigan (nee Knight), father, Cyril Ignatius Costigan, brothers; Patrick Costigan and Raymond Costigan.
He was born in Corner Brook in 1948. In 1959, his family moved to Labrador City, NL, to work for the Iron Ore Company of Canada. It was here he attended high school and forged many lifelong friendships and met his wife, Susan Knight and welcomed their sons. Cyril embraced the “Bigland” at every opportunity with his love of fishing, cabin life and the great outdoors. In retirement, his passions included hiking and travel. His love of music was infectious and he played and performed at every opportunity.
At Cyril’s request, cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood. Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 20th from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Graveside Service will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Ball Field Road, Harbour Main on Friday, April 21st, 2023 at 11:30 am with a reception to celebrate Cyril’s life to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 64, Holyrood.
