It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Constance (Connie) Anne Hickey (nee Pike) surrounded by her loved ones. Connie was welcomed at the gates of heaven by her parents James and Esther Pike. Also predeceased by sister-in-law Carol Ann Pike, parents-in-law Gus and Gladys Hickey and brothers-in-law; Darren Hickey, Peter Hickey and Walter Reid.
Left with broken hearts are her husband Gordon Hickey, cherished children; Bruce (Shania) and Robyn, and granddaughter Lillian. Connie will be forever missed by siblings: Bernard (Wanda), Mercedes (Gary Daley), Ed (Brenda), Derm (Julie), Mary (Norman Linehan) and Nancy (Curtis McGrath), in-laws Norman (Rhoda), Bernice (Pete) Hickey, Ann, Lisa and Darlene Hickey, aunts; Agnes Dohey and Mary Curran. Also leaving to mourn are a large circle of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as numerous cousins and cherished friends, especially lifelong friend Connie Parrot (Chris).
Connie had strong faith with many trips to St. Anne de Beaupre with her mom and Robyn, finding strength in the power of prayer and Good St. Anne. She was very active in church functions while she lived in Maidstone and continued that presence in Good Shepherd Parish. Connie had a great sense of humour and loved spending time with family and friends. She was a superb hostess, always offering to host many large family get-togethers. Opening a hair salon in her home allowed her to have a vast social circle while also tending to her family. She loved having a chat on the phone as long as it did not interrupt her favourite show (Coronation Street). There are no goodbyes for us; you will always be in our hearts.
The family would like to thank the ICU staff at the Health Sciences Centre for their professionalism and the care they provided; we are truly grateful.
As per Connie’s request, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 10 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Good Shepherd Parish, St. Joseph’s, St. Mary’s Bay. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Good Shepherd Parish, SMB. on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 11:00 am with inurnment to follow at Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Mount Carmel, SMB.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Connie's memory may be made to the CNIB .
“I missed you today, I will miss you tomorrow with tears in my eyes, and a heart full of sorrow. I hold onto the memories of the great times we had. I grieve for what I’ve lost, but I am grateful for what I had.”
