Christopher Walter Slaney passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 75 years of age.
He was with my mom Debbie Laplante for 42 years until she passed away, they were not married but soul mates is the word I would use. Christopher was also predeceased by his parents; Michael and Veronica (nee Fewer) Slaney, brother, Albert, brothers-in-laws; Gus and Mike Laplante and members of the Slaney, Fewer and Laplante families.
Christopher is lovingly remembered by his son, Christopher John Michael and grandson, John Antonio Christopher Slaney, siblings: Gerard (Carol Ann), Kevin (Barb), Patricia, Mick (Marry), Theresa (Tom), Geraldine, Donna, Marilyn (Jim), Ester, sisters-in-law; Patricia Slaney and Kim Laplante, brothers-in-law; Garnet Young and Terry Laplante, nieces, nephews, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends.
Christopher was a member of Local 800 Pipefitters and Welders in Sault Ste Marie Ontario, he loved hunting, fishing, the outdoors, animals, especially dogs but he always looked after his family and those around him.
Cremation has taken place, resting at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026 from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm. The family will be inviting everyone to share stories and celebrate Christopher’s life from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm.
