It is with great sadness that the family of Austin McEvoy announce his peaceful passing on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John’s.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Ann, parents; Arthur and Madeline McEvoy and siblings: Frank, Willie and Sheila.
Left with fond and special memories are his sons; Carl (Kelly) and Brian (Nadine), five granddaughters: Maria, Lily, Eve, Kate and Bridget, who miss their funny, sweet and loving ‘Poppy Austin’ very much. Also mourning are Austin’s siblings: Joe (Marg), Walter (Virgie), Gerald (Sharon), Peter (Gen), Edith (Fred), Mary (Jimmy), Ed (Brenda) and Jeannie (Keith), sisters-in-law; Shirley and Bon, treasured friend Patsy, as well as a large circle of extended family and friends.
In addition to spending time with family, Austin loved being busy, especially in his garden or ‘fixing’ things in his shed. He persevered with quiet strength through many health challenges over the last number of years which limited his ability to enjoy these activities. We all find comfort that he is reunited with Ann, at home in heaven, and free from the challenges of ill health.
Many thanks to all the health care professionals who cared for Austin over the years, especially Dr. Tompkins, Dr. Hickey, Dr. Pirzada and all of the CCU Staff for their excellent care in his last days.
