It is with broken hearts that the family of Arthur Hickey announce his passing at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John’s on Sunday, August 14th, 2022 at the age of 79.
Art was predeceased by his son Michael, parents: Bernard and Mary, stepfather Dominic Fewer, sister Mary, and parents-in-law: Bernard and Josephine (nee LaCour) Woodford.
He leaves to mourn with fond memories, his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Bernadette (nee Woodford), daughters: Audrey (Rick Walsh), Dana (Rod Lewis) and Erin (Andrew Parsons); eight grandchildren: Jordan (Shauna Barton), Carley, Brady, Kelsey, Maia, Tristan, Michael and Josie; and great-grandchild Kallan, brothers: Bern (Gloria), Jim (Mary) and Dominic (Corinna); as well as a large number of nieces, nephews and friends.
Art was born in St. John’s and raised in Avondale. He was educated at St. Bon’s and at St. Dunstan’s in Prince Edward Island. He spent many years with the School Tax Authority but was well known for Hickey’s Bus Service which he operated with Bernadette until 2021.

Resting at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 16th, from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Wednesday, August 17th, from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Harbour Main on Thursday, August 18th, 2022 at 10:30 am with Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Holyrood.
