Passed peacefully away at Pleasant View Towers on Friday, November 24, 2023. Annie Hawco of Holyrood, age 97 years.
Annie was predeceased by her husband Patrick, son Jerome, daughter-in-law Isabel, infant son Patrick and her daughter Shirley and son-in-law Patrick Williams, as well as her parents Leo and Mary Josephine Flannigan and members of the Flannigan and Hawco families.
Left with wonderful memories, her devoted son Gus (Ellen), brother George Flannigan, cherished grandchildren: Paddy (Lisa) Hawco, Leanne (Larry) Meaney, Terence (Sarah Jayne Smith) Hawco, Andrea Hawco, Pat (Sonja) Williams, Linda (Blair) Baldwin and Jerome Hawco, greatgrandchildren: Kyle (Katelyn) and Jenna Hawco, Brittney and Bradley Meaney, Josh, Aiden and Nate Reeves, Nicholas Williams and Brooklyn and Liam Baldwin and her caregiver and beloved friend Elizabeth Kean.
Annie was a strong and independent woman. Born and raised in Avondale in a family of 14, she learned homemaking and life skills early in life. She excelled in whatever she chose to pursue. She was a seamstress, a quilter, a knitter, a gardener, a cook and baker. Annie was an entrepreneur, operating Hawco’s Grocery store for over 25 years. She enjoyed traveling with friends, meeting new people and sharing her time and talent with friends and neighbours alike. Her greatest passion and accomplishment in life was that of a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family dearly and was a perfect example of hard work and success in life.
Resting at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood. Visitation will take place on Friday, December 1st, 2023 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023 at 10:30 am from Holy Cross Catholic Church, Holyrood with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Holyrood.
Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Annie’s memory may be made to the Holy Cross Restoration Fund.
Gus and Ellen and the family would like to express a sincere thank you and appreciation to the amazing staff on 2 South West at Pleasant View Towers who took such great care of Annie. Special thanks to Elizabeth Kean, her devoted care giver, who quickly became a dear friend and companion to Annie.
